About us

Greater Marion County Association of the Deaf is a team of members
from our community to help provide access to communication services, 
outreach to families with deaf members seeking support and involvement
with elderly Deaf who may be isolated in care facilities.
   

   Integrity, Leadership and a sense of humor - Jack Carbonell !   

Before we lost Jack in 2023, he asked that we bring back the regional Deaf club. Jack loved poker and the social activities of a club for the Deaf.

   GMCAD was created that same year and we created a 501c3 non profit      organization to support the regional deaf community and to be involved throughout the State of Florida and    nationally.    

   As we continue to grow, we ask for support from our members as            volunteers, Committee involvement, and  joining our leadership roles.  
 

   Please reach out to join us, send your input and ideas for our mission to build
an organization that provides education and support to our Deaf community
here in Marion County.  
  
   We seek to provide resources like youth career and skills development,
support for accessibility and legislative development to improve communication in the hearing world.
